 The DSE (Dhaka Share Bazar) benchmark index has crossed 5000


The DSE (Dhaka Share Bazar) benchmark index has crossed 5000 mark after Jan 16 with the DGEN reaching 5038.80 points at close of Wednesday's trading hours.  The DGEN ended the week's third business day registering a gain of 99.79 points or 2.02 percent dominating power and IT sector. Shares
and mutual funds worth around Tk 8212.14 million changed hands with prices of 212 issues gaining, 42 declining and 11 remaining unchanged with a positive up trend. The day's turnover was around Tk 962 million more than around Tk 7250 million of Tuesday hitting higher of last three month.The last time DGEN had crossed 5000 mark was on Jan 15. The index reached its peak at 5051.54 points at the end of the day's trading with growing turnover. Tuesday's trading ended with the highest turnover in two and a half months. Trading was off on Monday because of the Independence Day as declared National holiday.  After a rise in share prices last week, trading on DSE opened this week on an upbeat note, gaining 104 points with bull governing trend. Sunday's turnover was the highest in past two and a half months which remarkable to the investors. The DGEN rose 215 points or 4.75 percent last week. The average daily turnover was Tk 4760 million, which was 86 percent higher than that of the previous week. In the week before, the index had gained 198 points or 57 percent.
