Dhaka Stock Exchange end week higher


The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week 58.90 points higher after price correction. The DGEN closed at 4759.14 points or 1.25 percent on Thursday, but the daily turnover was Tk 350.86 million less than that of Wednesday. Shares and mutual funds worth around Tk 4.43 billion changed hands with prices of 213 issues gaining, 34 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The index had reached its peak for the day at 4770.95 points around 12:25pm. On Wednesday, trading closed at 69.26 points down after an initial spurt in the first hour. On Tuesday, the DGEN ended at 4769.50 points, registering a gain of 97.04 points after some fluctuations. The index continued rising along with the turnover for the first three days of the week. The DGEN had ended the first day of the week 82.55 points higher. Last week's trading closed with a rising benchmark index and turnover higher than that of Wednesday. 
Starting upbeat, the DSE general index gained 46 points to close the day's trading with an exchange of Tk 4.04 billion. The DSE got its new chief Rakibur Rahman last Thursday. The DSE general index rose 198 points or 4.57 percent last week.
