26.02.2012:Dhaka Stock Exchange ends on 2.86 pc high last week
The benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose by 2.86 percent, or 121.50 points, on the week's closing day as on 23.02.2012. The
general index closed at 4367.81 points on Thursday, a day after a committee recommended waiver of up to 50 percent interest on margin
loans taken by small investor for only

On Wednesday, the index gained 62.78 points, or 1.5 percent. On Monday, the index dropped at close during erratic trading throughout the day, with DGEN closing at 4183.52 points, down 30.96 points or 0.73 percent. The index saw fluctuations throughout Sunday, too, and opened the week on a down. It slipped to 4214.48 points, losing 44.56 points, or 1.04 percent, on the week's first day of trading. The index gained 245 points, or 6.19 percent, last week (Feb 12- Feb 16) and 165 points the previous week (Feb 5-Feb 9). DGEN dropped 641 or 14.29 percent in the week from Jan 29-Feb 2 and 459 points, or 9.29 percent, in the week from Jan 22 to 26. The average turnover was Tk 2.9 billion last week, 36 percent more than the trade volume seen the week before that.
